Rumors suggest Windows Phone 7 “Mango” will arrive on September 1st
Rumors are swirling that September 1st will be the release date of the long awaited Windows Phone 7 “Mango” update.
The news comes via Pocket-Lint who cite “multiple trusted sources” for the intel, but Microsoft’s response was both swift and pointless.
“Sept 1? Just a rumor.”
That was the response from Joe Belfiore, corporate vice president for Microsoft chiming in via twitter. As you can see, it’s a complete non-answer on the subject, and that usually means that the intel is spot-on.
Plus, we’ve recently heard that Mango-powered headsets are coming from LG, HTC and Samsung in September, which lends a bit more credibility to the rumor.
On the other hand, Nokia isn’t expected to debut its Mango-powered handsets until October. Needless to say, it would be a baffling missed opportunity for Microsoft not to give their big Windows Phone 7 partner first dibs.
Microsoft has said Mango will deliver more than 500 new features to the Windows Phone 7 platform, including Internet Explorer 9, an updated UI and deep social networking integration – particularly with Twitter.
