The budget-friendly HTC Wildfire S will be available online and in stores August 3rd for $79.99
T-Mobile USA has announced the upcoming release of the HTC Wildfire S. A budget-friendly device, the Wildfire S will run Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread out of the box and cost $79.99 on a new two-year T-Mobile contract.
Codenamed PG76240, the Wildfire S was certified by the FCC just a few weeks ago, so this announcement was not totally unexpected. The device was actually thought to be called the HTC Marvel, but it seems T-Mobile decided otherwise.
Like the European HTC Wildfire S, T-Mobile’s version measures 4 by 2.3 by .5 inches (HWD) and weighs 3.7 ounces. It features a 3.2-inch touch screen with 320-by-480 resolution. The device is also powered by a 600-MHz processor and 512 MB of RAM.
Like the Sensation 4G, the Wildfire S comes with HTC’s Sense UI overlay and access to the Android Market, which currently has over 200,000 apps. I’d like to note that it has the original HTC Sense, not T-Mobile’s modified version which is found on the myTouch 4G.
Again, the Wildfire S should be launching August 3rd and is definitely worth the price. The handset is no doubt the best mid-range handset on T-Mobile and the perfect smartphone for any budget-minded consumer.
