PS4, Use of Large Storage
Sony’s PS3 will have a new generation. Manufacturers of leading Japanese gaming console Sony Corp, reportedly was preparing a new mainstay weapon, the Playstation line. One of the important officials in the companies mentioned, if its newest product will be named Playstation 4.
According to Sony Corp. executive Shuhei Yoshida, the Playstation 4 will use a feature called Play3. This feature will use optical storage discs such as Blu-Ray for games on the console’s library. He added that the Playstation 4 will use a technology leap over Blu-Ray format, which can last up to 10 years.
“Blu-Ray format is enough time to stay on the PlayStation 3, but after that there will be a big leap we would make,” explained Shuhei, as quoted by TG Daily, Friday, April 30th.
“When the time arrived for the PlayStation 4 is released, there may be needs such as large capacity storage media. If Sony saw this need in the format in the future, they will tend to see the PS4 to replicate the PS3′s Blu-Ray in the lead,” he added.
The latest format in the PlayStation 4 appears to be indeed true, because according to reports that Sony is working GameInformer replacement Blu-ray. This new format seems similar to the previously announced Holographic Versatile Disc, with a capacity of 6TB.
Gameinformer noted that six terabytes is “more than sufficient” to support the 1080p HD format video, 3D images, audio loseless uncompressed HD, along with the AV codec.
“On top of all that storage, large format can use the available space to include additional security measures, the main positive when pitching the format for movie studios and game developers for those who do not want to play pirated games,” said GameInformer.
