Samsung Hercules shows up on TELUS one more time

Samsung Hercules

Canadians, eh? They seem to be having quite a bit of luck these days with getting their hands on new devices. The Samsung Galaxy S II has been available in Canada for quite some time already in a number of variants but this one, the TELUS version matches that of the T-Mobile version we saw a number of times already. This also isn’t the first Telus sighting either, nor is it likely to be the last. Still no pricing or date to go along with it but just when you thought the Samsung Galaxy S II couldn’t get any better — they drop this 42Mbps beast on us. Glad I’ve not yet picked up a SGS II.

Said to be launching north of the border, the Hercules is rumored to have curved edges and a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor

More purported images of the long awaited Samsung Hercules have been leaked to Canadian technology site Mobile Syrup. Said to be taken by a TELUS ninja, the photos show the Hercules running Android 2.3 Gingerbread and scoring a high 3,359 Quadrant benchmark score.

According to the tipster who obtained the new photographs, the Hercules will indeed have a 4.5-inch screen and run Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread with TouchWiz on top. The Hercules will also be Canada’s first smartphone with a 42Mbps radio inside.

Besides the new pics and rumored specs however, no other real news surfaced from this leak. Just the huge benchmark really.

As Engadget points out, with a Benchmark that high, it is completely possible for the handset to have a Exynos porcessor and not the rumored Qualcomm chipset. We won’t really know for sure though until launch.

That said, any readers out there interested in the Hercules? What are your first impressions so far
