The Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread update should include a new, refined Android UI and an updated version of MOTOBLUR
According to the folks over at BriefMobile, AT&T’s Motorola ATRIX 4G is going to be finally updated to Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread sometime in July.
There’s no exact date yet, as software versions are still being tested by AT&T. However, based on one of those tested versions, a release should happen quite soon, since there don’t appear to be many bugs or things left to be ironed out.
Android 2.3.3 will bring with it some definite improvements, particularly in the power management department. Background apps are now closed automatically if left idle for too long and there’s also some serious speed improvements. The user interface has also changed quite a bit.
That said, Android 2.3 was announced a while back, way back in December of 2010 actually, so this update is taking quite a while. No word on what is taking Motorola and AT&T so long, but I really hope it’s because they just want a solid, stable build on the ATRIX,
Either way, if everything goes as planned, ATRIX 4G owners are going to get Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread very soon!
