A new report suggests that Apple will launch the iPhone 5 later this year or early next when the A6 is available
Asian tech site Sohu.com is reporting that Apple may have delayed the iPhone 5 until next year due to a faulty dual-core A5 chip. The report published today, which is just a rumor right now, suggests that overheating is the main culprit.
Sohu.com also said Apple will introduce a slightly upgraded iPhone 4S device, instead of the iPhone 5 revamp. The 4S will reportedly have a faster processor (although not the A5) and an 8-megapixel camera. The device will also have the same form factor as the iPhone 4 and will launch in September or October.
The report didn’t mention whether or not the iPhone 4S would be launching on Sprint or T-Mobile, like other iPhone 5 rumors suggested. If this report turns out to be true, carrier comaptibility is also probably up in the air.
With all the recent reports/rumors surrounding a more significant iPhone update due later this year, were not quite sure what is going on. It seems like a lot of things are changing at Apple leading up to the next iOS device.
Hopefully, will find out more by the end of this summer.
