Android 3.2 will reportedly provide support for 7-inch screens and dual-core Qualcomm processors
Chinese telecom heavyweight Huawei has announced a new 7-inch Android Honeycomb tablet. Set to debut later this summer, the Huawei MediaPad will be the “world’s first” Android 3.2 tablet.
Powered by a dual-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm processor, the MediaPad will ship with a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, as well as a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera. Like 10.1-inch Honeycomb tablets, the MediaPad will also feature WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, and HSPA+ (14.4Mbps) connectivity.
According to This Is My Next, Android 3.2 will be quite a bit similar to Android 3.1 except for the fact that it will offer support for Qualcomm dual-core processors in addition to the NVIDIA Tegra 2 silicon currently powering today’s 10.1-inch tablets.
3.2 will provide some bug fixes and improve overall hardware acceleration. It will also offer updates to Movie Studio, Movies, Music and widgets. Not bad for a point upgrade less than one month after Android 3.1 was announced.
Look for the 7-inch MediaPad and Android 3.2 Honeycomb to hit stores sometime later this summer.
