HTC Status “Facebook phone” landing July 17th for $49.99

The HTC Status features Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread, a QWERTY keypad, a 5-megapixel shooter, and a dedicated Facebook sharing button

AT&T on Monday announced the pre-order availability of its first “Facebook phone,” the HTC Status. Facebook fanatics on the nation’s second largest wireless carrier can pre order the device today or pick it up when it arrives in stores on July 17th.

Sporting a 2.6-inch 480×320 display, the HTC Status is powered by a single-core 800MHz Qualcomm processor and 512MB of RAM.

The device also runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread out of the box and features HSPA, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, and the previously mentioned Facebook touch button.

Overall, the HTC Status is a superb mid-range Android smartphone for those looking to test the Android waters. The keyboard and Facebook button alone make this phone quite desirable to alot of people.

Customers interested in the device can already pre-order the Status here at AT&T. Starting July 17th, Best Buy will offer an exclusive mauve version of the smartphone.
