Apple is apparently working on a hybrid system, the pair of discs traditional dish, the configuration of flash memory, which can prevent data loss if the MacBook is dropped or shaken. In detail in the recently published patent application 20110238887, look for “hybrid storage device based on the state of the environment,” Apple’s solution is positioned as a way to avoid errors caused by “temperature, vibration and acceleration,” but can also have an impact on the speed of data availability.

“Block selectively storing data in flash memory, a hybrid storage device can be addressed with sensitivity for the hard disk to change the environmental status of the hybrid storage device. For example, if the change of status information about environmental result in the state of the hard disk, where the failure or closure of the hard drive will be writing, or if there is an imminent risk of losing data during Write, write operation can be completed using the flash memory. Therefore, this technique storage can increase the reliability of the hybrid storage device, “Apple’s patent application

As Apple has described the hybrid drive can quickly save the data to the flash section of a sudden if it detects that the trays should be blocked, such as during a fall. On the other hand, if the temperature exceeds preset unit “safe” level, the trays can be rotated down and the flash storage is used as a temporary cache until it is cooled again.

Hybrid hard drive technology is not new, and several manufacturers have already produced a pair of turntables and a solid state memory. Perhaps the most famous is the Seagate Momentus XT – which is adjusted until July 2010 – although the main purpose of combining the speed of storage is usually expressed as a question.

It would also be an advantage of the system from Apple, the company acknowledges – “the external device may be able to improve performance by exploiting the relative performance of the memory of the hard drive and flash” – although it is possible, focusing on life, allowing appropriate to differentiate the patent application of the prior art. Whether that will fly with the USPTO remains uncertain, but we would not be surprised if tomorrow MacBook Pro models incorporated a cost-effective balance Hybrid storage rather than move to bigger SSD expensive than some have predicted.
