The Android 2.3 update brings better power management, a refined tablet UI, and improved Bluetooth support

Android 2.3 Gingerbread is now officially available for the 7-inch Sprint Samsung Galaxy Tab. That’s right friends, after a full 7 months of waiting, Gingerbread and all of its new features has finally arrived.

For those new readers that don’t quite remember the Galaxy Tab (see our review here), the device features a 7-inch TFT display, and Samsung’s TouchWiz UI.The Tab is powered by 1GHz Hummingbird processor and has 512MB of RAM too. It was the the first true Android tablet and Gingerbread will only make it better and faster.

Overall, Android 2.3 Gingerbread refines the TouchWiz UI, giving it a more consistent look and feel throughout the OS. 2.3 also speeds up the tablet quite a bit, making it easily faster than Android 2.2. The UI changes are the key thing though.

As usual, there will be manual update option available if you don’t feel like waiting for the OTA, and you can find the download link and instructions here as soon as it’s posted.

If you’re not one for manual updates, Samsung and Sprint roll these out in phases, so you shouldn’t have to way too long. Four days max.
