The Droid X2 Gingerbread update includes enhancements to the Gallery and Calendar apps, improved power management, and a newer version of Motoblur
Android enthusiast site Droid-Life is reporting that Verizon has begun pushing out Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread to the Droid X2. That’s right friends, after several months of waiting, Gingerbread and all of its new features has finally arrived.
For those new readers that don’t quite remember the Droid X2, the device features a 4.1-inch LCD display, an 8-megapixel camera, and Motorola’s Motoblur UI. Addiitonally, the X2 is powered by 1GHz dual-core processor and has 1GB of RAM too. It is an absolute beast of a phone, hands down.
The update, which is the standard over-the air, includes a great deal of improvements on top of Android 2.3. These inlcude enhancements to the Gallery and Calendar apps, an updated version of MotoBlur, and full 1080p video playback. It will also include improved battery life
Per usual, there will be manual update option available if you don’t feel like waiting for the OTA, and you can find the download link and instructions here as soon as it’s posted.
If you’re not one for manual updates, Motorola and Verizon usually roll these out in phases, so you shouldn’t have to way too long. A few weeks max.
That said, any Droid X2 readers out there receive Android 2.3 yet? If so, what do you think?
